01 — ¿Qué es?

Qué hace a un lpg coche.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has powered cars since the 1970s and remains one of the most cost-effective fuels in markets where it is taxed favourably. LPG is produced as a by-product of natural gas processing and crude oil refining, giving it lower CO₂ and NOₓ emissions than petrol while costing roughly half as much per litre at the pump. Modern factory-fit LPG systems are seamless — the engine switches automatically between petrol and LPG.

LPG conversions are popular in high-mileage markets — notably Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Turkey — where infrastructure is widespread and the economics are compelling. For a driver covering 30,000 km per year, the saving over petrol can exceed €1,500 annually. The trade-off is a reduced boot space for the LPG tank and a requirement to plan refuelling stops in markets where LPG coverage is thinner.

Ideal para
  • 01High annual mileage drivers seeking to cut fuel bills significantly
  • 02Fleet operators running fixed routes in markets with good LPG coverage
  • 03Drivers in countries where LPG is taxed favourably (Poland, Italy, Turkey)
  • 04Buyers wanting lower emissions than petrol without the complexity of electrification
  • 05Long-term car keepers where the conversion payback period is achievable
